EOCHS and OHS boys’ hoop teams eye solid ECT runs

The East Orange Campus and Orange high school boys’ varsity basketball teams hope to make strong runs in the Essex County Tournament.
EOCHS, seeded 16th, will host No. 29 seed Glen Ridge, while Orange, seeded 14th, will host No. 31 seed West Side in the first preliminary round on or by Saturday Jan. 28
The winner between EOCHS-Glen Ridge will face No. 28 seed Cedar Grove, while the winner between OHS-West Side will face the winner between No. 19 seed West Orange and No. 26 seed Nutley on or by Feb. 2.
The top seed is Seton Hall Prep in the 33-team field. Newark Tech is seeded second and Bloomfield is the third seed. 
Senior guard Khalid Muhammed scored 28 points to lead OHS to a 55-51 win over Newark Central on Jan. 17 in Newark. Freshman guard Keyshawn Alexander had 11 points and senior guard Cornelius Wilson had 10 points in the win as the Tornadoes improved to 7-7.
