The East Orange Campus High School boys’ varsity basketball team had a valiant run in the Essex County Tournament.
Donald Denasto scored 17 points and Jahreal Cadogan had 10 points, but the 16th-seeded Jaguars lost to top-seeded and defending champion Seton Hall Prep, 58-44, in the round of 16 last Saturday Feb. 4 at SHP in West Orange.
Yonnick Bob had seven points and Kenneth Grant had six points for the Jaguars,who lost their
third straight game and fell to 6-
12. Seton Hall Prep improved to 17-1.
The Jaguars lost to SHP earlier in the week, 72-48, on Jan. 31 in West Orange in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game that snapped their three-game winning streak.
Rasul Douglas scored a game-high 17 points and Denasto had 12 points for the Jaguars.
Two days later, the Jaguars fell to Irvington, 40-34, in divisional action at EOCHS. Grant had nine points, Xavier Harney had seven points and Denasto had six points.
In the first round preliminary of the ECT, the Jaguars defeated Glen Ridge, 79-29, on Jan. 28. EOCHS then defeated 17th-seeded Caldwell, 61-47, on Jan. 30 in the second round preliminary.
