EOCHS girls' hoop team is No. 4 seed in ECT; OHS is seeded No. 18

The East Orange Campus High School girls’ varsity basketball team received the No. 4 seed in the Essex County Tournament.
The Lady Jaguars will begin play on Feb. 4. Newark Arts, seeded 20th, will host No. 25 seed Golda Och on or by Saturday Jan. 28. The winner will visit No. 13 seed Cedar Grove on or by Feb. 2. The winner of that game will then visit EOCHS on Feb. 4.
Shabazz is the No. 1 seed in the 26-team field. Montclair is seeded second and Mount St. Dominic is third.
Orange is the No. 18 seed and will visit No. 15 seed Newark Central on or by Feb. 2. The winner will visit Montclair on Feb. 4.
Teana Muldrow had 25 points, 11 rebounds, 11 assists, four steals and six blocks and Precious Osagie-Erese had 17 points and four assists to power EOCHS to a 64-39 home win over Weequahic on Jan. 17.
The Jaguars trailed 16-11 at the end of the first quarter, but outscored Weequahic, 17-6, in the second quarter for a 28-22 halftime lead. EOCHS maintained control in the second half with a 15-9 third-quarter run and a 21-6 fourth-quarter run.
Jamie Cejour had 10 points, four steals, three rebounds and three assists and Alexis Currie had 10 points, nine rebounds and two steals for EOCHS. Angel Osagie-Erese also had two points, five steals and three rebounds in the win.
Muldrow had 31 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and four blocks and Currie had 11 points and 11 rebounds in the 72-43 win over Columbia on Jan. 19 in South Orange.
Precious Osagie-Erese also had five points, 11 assists and five steals, Cejour had eight points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds, Nyla Allen had six points, six rebounds and two steals and Angel Osagie-Erese had seven points, five assists and three boards.
Muldrow had 26 points and Precious Osagie Erese had 10 points in the 60-48 loss to Mount St. Dominic last Friday Jan. 20 in Caldwell. EOCHS fell to 9-3.
Ruth Adams scored six of her 11 points in overtime to lead OHS to a 57-43 win over Newark Arts on Jan. 17 in Newark. The Tornadoes were dominant in overtime, outscoring Arts, 16-2. Esther Adams had five of her 14 points and Shereeka Russell also had five of her 11 points in overtime. Esther Adams added seven rebounds and four steals for the game. Aquiyah Williams led the Tornadoes with 18 points.
